Arrest in Port Elgin cottage break-ins

A 39-year-old Hamilton man broke into three Market St. cottages in Port Elgin and made " himself at home” police said in a report of his arrest.

Saugeen Shores Police Service said a property owner called for help Sept. 10 after finding a man at his cottage who claimed to be there on behalf of the owner.

Police found the suspect who was in possession of property from cottages. He was charged with three counts of break and enter, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, and resisting arrest.

The suspect had previously been charged with break and enter in Hamilton and possession of property obtained by crime in Niagara Region earlier this month.

He was released on an undertaking to stay out of Saugeen Shores.
